Pro boxer Robert Easter Jr. shot, robbed in Cincinnati, police say

CINCINNATI — A professional boxer said he was shot three times when someone robbed him over the weekend in Cincinnati.

According to WTOL, Robert Easter Jr., 31, of Toledo, Ohio, is recovering in the hospital after the incident, which occurred about 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Sycamore Street.

The former IBF lightweight champion and 2012 Olympic alternate said someone approached him from behind and told him to hand over his jewelry, Cincinnati police said. Easter tried to run away but was struck by gunfire, authorities said. The assailant then fled with his cellphone, gold chains and three diamond rings, police told WNWO.

Easter was taken to an area hospital for surgery, WTOL reported.

Police have not arrested any suspects in connection with the case, according to the news outlets.
