Fiat Chrysler has announced a recall of nearly 95,000 Jeep Cherokees.

The recall is due to transmission issues that can cause the vehicles to lose power or may prevent the SUV from being in park, The Associated Press reported.

Gear teeth that change between all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive can wear and cut power to the front wheels. If the teeth are totally worn away, then the SUV may not go into park.

There is one report of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, along with 829 warranty claims and three field reports, the AP reported.

The recall affects some 2014 through 2017 Cherokees and 2,700 replacement parts.

Owners will get recall notices at the end of July. They are also being reminded to use parking brakes.

Dealers will reprogram the vehicles’ software to send power to the real wheels if the teeth don’t work. It will also automatically turn on the parking brake when the driver puts the SUV in park, the AP reported.
