Some 2012 and 2013 Optima sedans are subject to recall because the headliner plates may not be secured properly. They can come down and hit the driver or passengers, The Associated Press reported.

The vehicles were manufactured at Kia Georgia from Aug. 12, 2011, through Sept. 27, 2013, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s documentation.

Dealers will correct the issue by installing industrial-grade tape over the plates to secure them.

Owners will be notified if their cars have been recalled via letters sent later next month.

Owners can also check their VIN on Kia’s website to see if their vehicles are under recall.
