WOODBRIDGE, Ill. — Home Run Inn Frozen Foods is recalling more than 13,000 pounds of frozen meat pizza product that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service confirmed Sunday.
The frozen meat pizzas were produced on June 6 by the Woodbridge, Illinois-based company, and the recall applies to 33.5-ounce cartons containing Home Run Inn Chicago’s Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza with a “best by” date of Dec. 3, 2022.
The affected products, bearing establishment number “EST. 18498-A” inside the USDA mark of inspection, were initially shipped to an Illinois distributor who further distributed the product to retailers, according to the recall notice.
Home Run Inn Frozen Foods notified FSIS that it had fielded consumer complaints reporting metal found in the pizzas, prompting an investigation and subsequent recall.
Per the recall notice, there have been no confirmed reports of injuries or adverse reactions due to consumption of the affected products, and anyone concerned about an injury or illness is advised to contact a health care provider.
All affected products should be discarded immediately or returned to the place of purchase.
