NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara on Friday tied an NFL record that had stood for 91 years, rushing for six touchdowns as the Saints defeated the Minnesota Vikings 52-33 to clinch their fourth straight NFC South title.
Kamara’s six touchdown runs at the Superdome tied the mark set in 1929 by Ernie Nevers of the Chicago Cardinals, ESPN reported.
Only two players since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 had rushed for as many as five touchdowns in a game, NOLA.com reported. James Stewart of the Jacksonville Jaguars turned the trick in 1997 and was matched in 2003 by Clinton Portis of the Denver Broncos, the website reported.

Kamara is only the fourth player in NFL history to score six touchdowns of any kind in a game, ESPN reported. He joined Nevers, William “Dub” Jones of the Cleveland Browns (1951) and Gale Sayers of the Chicago Bears (1965), the sports network reported.
Kamara carried the ball 22 times for a personal best 155 yards, WDSU reported.
Alvin Kamara was asked whether he was on Sean Payton to put him in on 3rd & 1 to get his 6th TD.
