Three-time Grammy Award nominee Shawn Mendes announced he is canceling the rest of his “Wonder” world tour so he can focus on mental health.
In a statement on his Instagram, 23-year-old Mendes said he is canceling the rest of the tour dates in North America and Europe.
“We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much-needed time off, but at this time, I have to put my health as my first priority,” Mendes said on Instagram.
The singer said he would return to music as soon as he was done healing.
“I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this but I promise I will be back as soon as I’ve taken the right time to heal. I love you all, and thank you all so much for supporting me and sticking by me on this journey.”
According to the BBC, Mendes had only performed in seven of the scheduled 87 performances.
Mendes first indicated he needed a mental health break when he postponed his tour for three weeks in early July.
In social media posts shared on July 9, he told fans he had “reached a breaking point,” USA Today reported. Mendes postponed those concerts through July 29.
According to his website, all shows have been canceled.
