Chassidy Saunders, who was one of three people shot when a gunman opened fire Saturday night at another child’s birthday party, died from her wounds, WSVN reported.

Two adults, who were unrelated to Saunders, were wounded, according to the Miami Herald.

Saunders got her nickname because of videos that showed her dancing joyously, the newspaper reported.

The Miami police department had not released details of the shooting, according to the Herald. On Sunday night, Saunders’ family held a candlelight vigil in her honor.

The shooting occurred at around 7 p.m., WSVN reported.

“I heard ‘boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.’ It was so fast,” one man, who declined to give his name, told the television station.

“Maybe like 10 or 15 shots,” another neighbor told WSVN.

Officials said Saunders and one of the two adults were rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, the television station reported. Saunders died several hours later.

“Chassidy was a 6-year-old with a bright and promising future,” Saunders’ aunt wrote on Facebook.

Miami police officials are asking the public to call them or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS if they have any information about the shooting.
