The younger Davis, an author who wrote about life with her famous father in the books “Sammy Davis Jr.: My Father” and “Sammy Davis Jr.: A Personal Journey With My Father,” suffered a brief illness before her death in Franklin, Tennessee, according to her ex-husband, Guy Garner. It wasn’t immediately known what caused her death, the AP reported.
Garner told the news agency that Tracey Davis “loved and adored” her four children “more than anything.” Her surviving family members, including the children, her two brothers and her mother, actress May Britt Ringquist, “are all shocked and devastated,” Garner said.
News of Tracey Davis’ death came just one month after MGM revealed plans for a biopic about her late father, who died in 1990, according to the AP. The film will be an adaptation of “Sammy Davis Jr.: My Father,” which she wrote with co-author Dolores A. Barclay in 1996, Deadline reported.
