WHITE OAK, Pa. — A White Oak officer was injured early Saturday morning during an altercation involving two men and other officers, according to police.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Coulter Road and Main Street, where there have been recent thefts from vehicles, when the two men were seen just before 4 a.m., police said. When confronted by police, the suspects were uncooperative and refused to identify themselves.%

Police said officers recognized one of the men to have been involved in previous thefts from vehicles. When questioned about the contents of his backpack, the man began fighting with officers.
During a struggle between the man and officers, the other man began to interfere.
The White Oak Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the altercation resulted in one officer suffering a "significant injury and will be unable to work for an unknown amount of time."
Police expect the officer to make a full recovery.
Charges are pending against both men involved in the incident.
