BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — A woman died in an accident on a Butler County road early Monday.

The accident on Sunset Dr. in Center Township occurred around 3 a.m. but wasn’t discovered until just before 6 a.m.

Neighbors heard the crash, but they believed it was a thunderstorm.

“I heard what I thought was a tree splintering. I thought it was going to fall on my house. I looked around as best I could, it was dark I didn't see anything,” neighbor Babette Stewart said.

Neighbors said and Channel 11’s radar showed it was heavily storming when Nicole Boyle was driving.

“We just assumed it was thunder, and then we wake up and there was a car,” neighbor Jacqueline Cary said.

Boyle was the mother to two sons and one daughter, all under the ages of eight.

Family members told Channel 11’s Amy Marcinkiewicz that Boyle was on her way home and was just a few minutes from her house when she crashed. The family said they do not know how the snapped pole, downed wires and wreckage went unnoticed.

Police say the car traveled off the roadway, began spinning and hit a telephone pole and several trees that covered the car. The car was unable to be seen from the road.
