BEAVER COUNTY. Pa. — Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a woman inside her Rochester Borough apartment.

Officials identified the victim as Lisa Stover, whom neighbors described as a vibrant young mother of two young boys who lived for her children.

Police responded to 777 Riverview Drive at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on a reported shooting. Her two young children were not home at the time.

John Moore, a neighbor, said the children and their father were visiting with him at the time of the killing.

“The two were texting back and forth. He went home and found her,” Moore told Channel 11 News.

Moore said Stover's apartment door was open and she was clinging to life with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. The shooting quickly turned into a murder investigation.

Investigators said the apartment complex, Riverview Terrace, is a secure building. No one can enter without a key unless someone inside lets them in. Police said the killer had to get through a security door as well as Stover’s apartment door to get to her. There were no signs of forced entry.

Stover’s friends said she was very cautious because of her children and would not open the door to strangers. They said she was taking college classes to improve herself.

“I just feel bad for the kids, young kids who know their mom is dead,” Moore said.

The murder weapon has not been found and Sgt. Dawn Shane said police did not have any suspects or a possible motive as of Thursday afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
