Man ripped from vehicle before thief drives off with it

PITTSBURGH — A man told police he was pulled out of his vehicle and someone drove off with it early Saturday morning at the Waterworks Mall.

Police said they were called to mall at about 8:40 a.m. A man said he was sleeping in his vehicle while his wife was inside a store.

He said a man opened the door, pulled him out, got into the vehicle and then drove off.

Investigators said they found the vehicle around 3:15 p.m. on the North Side.

Police said they are still investigating.

“I’ve never seen anything horrible happen here so I was really shocked,” said Lisa Petrilli.

Shoppers at the plaza said they were shocked and concerned when they heard about the incident.
