Pitt, Central Catholic Safety Damar Hamlin drafted by Buffalo Bills

CLEVELAND — With the 212th pick in the 6th round of the NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Pitt and Pittsburgh Central Catholic defensive back Damar Hamlin.

Hamlin is from McKees Rocks and led Central Catholic to a 4-A WPIAL and PIAA championship his senior year.

At Pitt, the safety was voted a captain by his teammates in 2020 and finished his senior season on the All-ACC second team. He played in the prestigious Reese’s Senior Bowl all-star game.

Rivals named Hamlin the top-rated defensive back in Pennsylvania his senior season at Central Catholic. He was selected to play in the state’s Big 33 Football Classic. He also lettered in basketball and track in high school.

At Pitt, Hamlin earned a bachelor’s degree in communication. He is currently pursuing a second degree in sociology.
