Pitt offensive lineman drafted by Las Vegas Raiders

CLEVELAND — With the 230th pick in the 7th round of the NFL draft, the Las Vegas Raiders selected decorated Pitt offensive lineman Jimmy Morrissey.

The Huntingdon Valley native was a two-time captain for the Pitt football team. He was named All-ACC first team and won the 2020 Burlworth Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding college player who began his career as a walk-on.

Morrissey made 47 starts during his time at Pitt, all but one at center. He was named to the All ACC-Academic Football team for four consecutive years, joining Adam Biisnowaty as the only Pitt player to achieve that honor.

Pitt selected Morrissey for its Blue-Gold Award. The award goes to seniors who “represent the student-athlete based on academic scholarship, athletic achievement, leadership qualities and citizenship.” Blue-Gold Award winners have their names engraved on the Varsity Walk on Pitt’s campus.

At Pitt, Morrissey earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing. He was a member of Pitt’s Blue & Gold Society.
