The start of the Major League Baseball season is being pushed back because of coronavirus.

The league said the decision to move Opening Day back by 8 weeks was made following updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention restriction events with more than 50 people.

MLB said it would continue to monitor ongoing events and take precautions recommended by public health experts - and urged all fans to do the same.

The league will keep fans updated on decisions regarding the start of the 2020 season.
