PITTSBURGH — The fans are back at Heinz Field to take in the first day of Steelers training camp that is open to the public.

It’s being held in the city again this year instead of Latrobe because of the NFL’s COVID-19 rules.

It’s been quite some time since Steelers fans have seen the team in a training camp setting. On Wednesday, as the players donned their pads for the first time this season, they did so in front of several thousand members of Steelers Nation who made their presence known.

You could sense the thrill and excitement for fans as the team went through drills. Fans Channel 11 talked with before heading into practice were just so happy to see their team back in action.

“Juiced! We are ready for the action baby. Steeler Nation. We’re here. Absolutely excited. I’m going to look at Najee (Harris) today and see how Ben feels,” Jeffrey Williams said.

“We’re excited. It means a lot or we wouldn’t be here. To be here in the first day, the first day of practice is the way to go,” Dawn Murphy said.

The first day in front of fans wouldn’t be complete without celebrations from the players in the end zone. There was a Tik Tok dance from Juju Smith-Schuster after he made a big catch.

The Steelers take on the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game next Thursday night.
