PITTSBURGH — An investigation is underway after a fan scattered ashes of a family member at Heinz Field on Sunday during the Steelers’ win over the Denver Broncos.

According to our partners at TribLIVE.com, a Steelers spokesman said “Heinz Field management does not permit or condone such actions.”

“While we respect those fans who may be interested in honoring a family member by spreading their family’s ashes inside the stadium, Heinz Field cannot accommodate those requests due to state and local regulations,” spokesman Burt Lauten told TribLIVE.com.

It’s not clear if there would be any action taken against the fan who spread the ashes.

There is no state law controlling where someone can scatter ashes.
