Juju Smith-Schuster says won’t stop dancing on midfield logo; Bills players said it fueled them

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered their second loss of the season on Sunday Night Football in a matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

The NBC camera crew got a close up of Juju Smith-Schuster doing his pregame ritual of dancing on the logo at midfield. The dance is uploaded to Smith-Schuster’s TikTok account. TikTok is a social media mobile app where users can create and share short-form videos on any topic. On Sunday night, he was dancing on the Bills logo, something that Bills players said gave them some extra fuel for the game.

“I ain’t going to lie, seeing them dancing on our logo pregame and seeing all that, that turns you up a little bit,” Bills cornerback Jordan Poyer said according to our partners at TribLive.com. “It kind of gives you a second little itch to come out and play with some extra fire.”

In the game against the Dallas Cowboys earlier in the season, defensive tackle Antwaun Woods said he noticed Smith-Schuster’s pregame dance.

“We have a zero-tolerance for that,” Woods said at the time.

When asked about the dance on Wednesday, Smith-Schuster said he has no plans to stop the routine.

“One thing I’ll tell you guys - I’m not going to stop being myself,” he said. “I’m going to be the Juju I came into me. Authentic. TikTok is a new platform that I’ve used to touch my fans. I plan to keep on doing (the dances.) I’m just having fun, being myself.”

So far in 2020, Smith-Schuster has 79 catches on 101 targets for 655 yards. He averages 8.3 yards per catch and has seven touchdowns and one fumble. He ranks 38th in the NFL among pass catchers this season and sits behind fellow players Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool.

The Steelers take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football in their next matchup. A Steelers win would allow them to clinch the AFC North Division.
