PITTSBURGH — The season may be over for the Steelers, but the organization says work is just getting started on some major improvements to the Heinz Field.
“After the season ended, we began a new pro shop construction project right where the ticket booth is located. We are hoping to have that open by July,” Steelers representative Shawn Gallagher said.

The team says it will relocate the ticket window and build a new flagship store, the largest addition to the stadium since in opened almost 20 years ago. The store will be built where the ticket office currently is, and it will come out on to the sidewalk on Art Rooney Avenue. Inside the stadium, the two story 12,000-square foot store will go all the way to the 50-yard line.
For tax payers worried about the cost of construction, the Steelers organization said it will be picking up the tab of $13 million.
Gallagher said they are also working on improving some signage around the field.
