PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A new foundation to support the research of brain injuries and sports-related concussions is named for former Steelers head coach Chuck Noll.
Steelers Team President Art Rooney II announced the establishment of the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research. The team made an initial contribution of $1 million to help launch the foundation.

, Noll’s commitment to his players ultimately led to the development of the ImPACT test, which is now used to monitor concussions for athletes at all levels.
The medical advisory panel for the foundation will include neurosurgeons
[ Dr. Julian Bailes, Dr. Regis Haid and Dr. Joseph Maroon. ]

will serve on the Board or Directors. Hodge retired from the NFL following two concussions.
Steelers’ co-owners Art Rooney II, Rob Citrone and Larry Paul will also serve on the Board of Directors.
Noll was a coach for the Steelers for 23 years. He won four Super Bowls and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993.
