PITTSBURGH — The eight finalists for the NFL’s annual Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award were named Tuesday, and a Pittsburgh Steeler is in the mix.
Defensive lineman Cam Heyward is one of the eight finalists for the award given each year to a player who “best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.”
This is Heyward’s second nomination for the award, and he joins the following other finalists:
- QB Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers
- DE Calais Campbell, Baltimore Ravens
- LB Lavonte David, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- DE Justin Houston, Indianapolis Colts
- FB Kyle Juszczyk, San Francisco 49ers
- C Jason Kelce, Philadelphia Eagles
- WR Matthew Slater, New England Patriots
The winner will be determined by a vote of current NFL players. Each team will submit a consensus vote of their choice for the winner, and the teams are not allowed to vote for their own player.
