With the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs less than three weeks away, the NHL released the official schedule for the qualifying round and exhibition games.
The Penguins will open the league’s exhibition slate with a match-up against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, July 28 at 4 p.m.

Four days later, the Pens will face the Montreal Canadiens in Game 1 of the best-of-five series on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 8 p.m.
Here is the Penguins’ schedule for the first round (qualifying round) of the playoffs:
- Game 1: Saturday, Aug. 1 - 8 p.m.
- Game 2: Monday, Aug. 3 - 8 p.m.
- Game 3: Wednesday, Aug. 5 - 8 p.m.
- Game 4 (if needed) Friday, Aug. 7 - TBD
- Game 5 (if needed) Saturday, Aug. 8 - TBD
The entirety of the Eastern Conference qualifying round will be played at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, and regular NHL overtime rules will apply if needed.

Should Pittsburgh win that series against the Canadiens, it would then play the No. 4 seed remaining. If no teams jump or fall back during the seeding tournament, that would mean the Penguins would match up against the Flyers for a best-of-seven series.
