PITTSBURGH — The Penguins have reportedly asked Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and the Department of Health to allow home games at PPG Paints Arena to be played in front of a crowd at 25% capacity.
According to our partners at TribLive.com, the team presented a plan to state leaders. Currently, the arena is closed to fans and capacity is limited to 500 people. That includes players, coaches, team employees, family members, arena employees and members of the media.
Allowing 25% capacity would mean 4,596 spectators in the stands.
On Wednesday, New York officials announced sports and entertainment venues of 10,000 people or more would be allowed to operate at 10% capacity.
