Last season with the Maple Leafs, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound winger scored 16 goals in 82 games and tallied 2 assists in 7 playoff games.
Marleau is signed through the end of this current season and his contract carries an annual value of $700,000, according to team officials.

“Patrick is a player who can play anywhere in our lineup,” executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford said. “He’s a good two-way player, provides leadership and will be a good fit with our team.”
He was a three-time NHL All-Star in 2004, ’07 and ’09. Marleau is currently in his 22nd season in the NHL. He is currently 52 games shy of tying Gordie Howe’s record for most games played all-time.
The Anaheim Ducks have also claimed depth forward Andrew Agozzino off of waivers. The Penguins are set to play the Anaheim Ducks later this week.
In another trade, the Penguins have sent Dominik Kahun to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Connor Sheary and Evan Rodrigues.

Sheary played 55 games for the Buffalo Sabres this season with 9 goals and 10 assists. He is a 2 time Stanley Cup winner with the Penguins during the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons, often playing alongside Sidney Crosby.
Jim Rutherford said he feels this year's Penguins have a legitimate chance to win the Stanley Cup & he's backed that up by the moves he's made. Zucker. Marleau. Sheary. Rodrigues. This gives the Pens so many options over the final 21 games of the regular season and into playoffs.
