BEIJING, China — Elena Meyers-Taylor is heading into her fourth Olympic games but the first one as a mother.
Meyers-Taylor is in quarantine after testing positive for COVID when she arrived in Beijing. She hopes to be cleared by the time bobsled starts later next week.
You may remember, Meyers-Taylor won silver in 2014 with Rochester’s Lauryn Williams.
This year, she’ll have one more person cheering her on, her son Nico, who has special needs.
“So, Nico was born with Down Syndrome, and he was also born with profound bilateral hearing loss, and we decided to get him cochlear implants,” she said. “He’s working on his hearing, and he’s adapted very well to everything
Meyers-Taylor has three Olympic medals.
Her husband, Nic Taylor, is an alternate on the U.S. Men’s Bobsled Team.
