PITTSBURGH — The WPXI 2020 Holiday Parade has been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on planning for this annual holiday event, along with concerns for the safety and health of Parade participants, organizers and crowds.
The Parade, featuring local and national celebrities, huge balloons, marching bands, floats and more, has been a holiday tradition in Pittsburgh for decades. November 2020 would’ve marked the 40th anniversary of this beloved annual event which is always held the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
“As disappointed as we are to have to cancel The WPXI Holiday Parade, an event that is stitched into the fabric of our community, the safety and well-being of all involved in this huge one-day event is our number one priority,” said Kevin Hayes, WPXI Vice President & General Manager.
WPXI is planning to air a 40th anniversary Parade retrospective later this year to commemorate and honor the four decades of Parade memories, special guests and moments.
