UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside

UMPC Presbyterian Shadyside, a general medical and surgical facility, received the No. 1 ranking among Pittsburgh top hospitals because its nationally ranked in 14 adult procedures and performs at a high level in eight others. It's ranked No. 14 on the U.S. News and World Report's national honor roll. It has good scores in patient safety and a commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes. It is a teaching hospital.

It ranked second in the state of Pennsylvania.

UMPC Presbyterian Shadyside ranked nationally in the following specialties: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; psychiatry; pulmonology; rehabilitation; urology and opthalmology.

Its rankings were "high performing" in these procedures: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement and lung cancer surgery. It drew average marks in knee replacement.

Allegheny General Hospital

Allegheny General ranks second in the Pittsburgh metro and 18th in the state of Pennsylvania.
The hospital received the highest possible ratings in the following procedures: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, colon cancer surgery, heart failure and lung cancer surgery. Its ratings were average in aortic valve surgery, COPD, heart bypass surgery, hip replacement and knee replacement.

UPMC St. Margaret

This hospital ranked tied for second in Pittsburgh and 18th in Pennsylvania. 

It rated high performing in the following conditions and procedures: COPD, colon cancer surgery; heart failure and hip replacement.

Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital

This hospital ranked No. 4 in the Pittsburgh metro and No. 23 in Pennsylvania. It got the highest rating in the following procedures or conditions: COPD; heart failure; knee replacement

Armstrong Center for Medicine & Health

ACMH is a general medical and surgical facility. It received high scores in patient safety and in commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes.

It scored average marks in procedures for COPD, colon cancer surgery, heart failure, hip replacement and knee replacement.

Allegheny Valley Hospital

Allegheny Valley is rated "high performing" in six adult procedures and conditions. It is a general medical and surgical facility.

It received the highest possible ranking in care and treatment for patients with COPD.
