Steady snow will taper to snow showers overnight, leaving several inches to shovel when you head out early Saturday. A band of steadier snow will leave higher totals, for parts of the area with most locations getting enough fresh snow for sledding. The break should allow road crews to treat most area roadways, but watch for slick spots, especially on secondary roads and bridges and overpasses.

Colder temperatures will also leave you shivering. Highs will struggle to get back to freezing and wind chills will hover in the teens and low 20s throughout the day.

Milder temperatures move in Sunday with highs near 40.
