Snow squalls move through, wind chills to dip near 0

PITTSBURGH — A Snow Squall Warning was issued for much of our area due to bands of heavy snow that caused visibility issues.

LIVE INTERACTIVE RADAR

The warning covered the following areas:

  • Washington County
  • Southern Allegheny County
  • Westmoreland County
  • Northern Fayette County

A snow squall is a heavy band of snow that can greatly reduce visibility and quickly coat the ground with snow in 10 to 15 minutes. Watch for quickly changing road conditions as bursts of snow could coat untreated surfaces and reduce visibility.

Watch for icy spots early Thursday as wet roads and sidewalks could refreeze.

Morning low temperatures will drop into the teens, with wind chills in the single digits to near 0 degrees. Kids waiting at the bus stop will need extra layers, hats and gloves.

Blue skies and plenty of sunshine will brighten your day, but don’t look for a rapid warm-up. High temperatures will likely stay below freezing.
