PITTSBURGH — May was no doubt a wet month. Only ten days remained dry with precipitation totals ending more than an inch above average.
The start of June has been a much needed break in the rainy pattern. Sunshine will continue to build in Thursday afternoon with temperatures pushing back near average.
However, the nice weather isn't expected to last very long as another system moves into the area late Friday.
Friday starts off dry with clouds increasing through the day. A stray shower is possible late, but most locations will be rain-free.
The best chance for wet weather will actually be Friday night. The good news is that it won’t last much into the weekend.
High pressure will help keep the Pittsburgh area dry Saturday. Unfortunately, an incoming low pressure system will put an end to the nice weather as we wrap up the weekend.
“Scattered showers and storms will move in Sunday,” said Severe Weather Team 11 meteorologist Scott Harbaugh. “It doesn’t look all day, but a few rounds of showers and storms are likely.”
The low pressure system and cold front associated with it will be east of Pittsburgh Monday. Keep in mind, a few showers linger across western Pennsylvania and temperatures will fall back into the mid-70s.
