PITTSBURGH — Grab the umbrella before you head out the door this evening, rain showers will be around tonight. The air will feel chilly as the breeze picks up and temperatures fall from the low 40s down to the 30s. Overnight rain will mix with snow showers in spots.
Hopefully, you have the winter coat and gloves handy you’ll need them this weekend. Snow showers will kick off Saturday morning with rain showers mixing in through the day. These rain showers will mix back to snow showers in the evening. A coating of snow is possible this weekend locally with a chance of 1″-2″ of snow near I-80 and Indiana county. Higher amounts of snow accumulation are expected in the ridges and mountains where a Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect starting tonight.
This Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect for the ridges of Westmoreland, Fayette counties and the mountains starting tonight at 1AM and will continue through 1 AM early Sunday morning. Snow showers may bring 2″-5″ of snow in these with wind gusts up to 35 mph. In this location once the rain showers change over to snow tonight it will stay snow in the ridges and mountain through the weekend. Watch for snow covered roads and low visibility.
Much colder air will follow for Sunday with higher wind gusts. Wind chills Sunday morning will be in the teens.
