Rain moving in ahead of change to snow

PITTSBURGH — Rain increases through the afternoon and continues this evening. Rain transitions into snow overnight.

Scattered snow will bring a coating of snow to most of the area. 1″-2″ of snow is expected around I-80. The mountains could receive 2″-5″ of snow.

Watch out for slushy roads and reduced visibility with falling snow while driving. Temperatures will struggle into the upper 40s in much of the area with even colder air north near I-80.

Another shot of colder air will help rain change to snow showers at times Saturday, with a coating of snow possible by Sunday.

The real cold settles in Sunday bringing wind chills in the 20s.
