Temperatures stay below freezing ahead of Sunday storm

PITTSBURGH — Clear conditions will allow temperatures to tumble to the mid-teens tonight. Winds chills will be in the single digits into the morning. Temperatures will stay below freezing leading up to the winter storm that will move begin to move in Sunday afternoon.

Sunday will start with some sunshine and dry weather early in the day to finish up winter storm preps before Sunday afternoon.

A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect for our area from 1 PM Sunday until 1 PM Monday. Snow showers will begin to develop from the south Sunday afternoon. The steadiest snow will fall across our area Sunday evening into Monday morning. Periods of heavy snow are expected at this time, with the potential of some mixing in spots. Travel will be dangerous Sunday evening and through the Monday morning commute. Several inches of snow are anticipated, snowstorm totals for the area will be between 5″-10″ with some spots up to 12″.
