PITTSBURGH — Plan for another hot day on Wednesday and toss the umbrella in your bag too. A couple of rounds of showers and storms will be possible with the first developing before sunrise mainly north of Pittsburgh and continuing through mid-morning.
A second round of storms is possible after lunch and into the early evening and could bring the threat of strong wind gusts and heavy downpours. Temperatures will also be making headlines again Wednesday with the current forecast pushing highs back above 90 with heat index values as high as 95 to 100 degrees. However, if morning showers and storms are more widespread and leave more cloud cover temperatures may not be quite as warm.
Thursday brings another round of showers and storms but cooler temperatures. Feeling muggy and hot through the week. Hotter marks are on the way today. High temperatures will rise to the low 90s, with heat indices reaching the upper 90s this afternoon.
On Wednesday, the heat and humidity stick around with a chance of scattered showers and storms through the day. Storms that develop Wednesday could become strong to severe, producing gusty winds and downpours.
The heat will remain in the forecast for Thursday and Friday, with highs in the upper 80s around 90 degrees and a better chance of thunderstorms again late week. Right now, it doesn’t look like we will get much of a break from the heat until the weekend.
